Mosammat Amirun Nesa Khan, known by her stage name Rani Sarker was a Bangladeshi film actress. She was born in the village of Kaliganj Upazilla of Satkhira, Bengal Presidency, British India in 1931. Sarker started her career as a stage performer in the year 1958. In the same year, she was cast in A. J. Kardar’s Dur Hai Shukh Ka Gao. In 1962, she was cast in the Urdu film Chanda. Two of her very notable films were Talash and Notun Sur in which she played the lead roles. Sarker has done more than 250 films.
Some of them are, Kancher Deyal, Sangam, Anowara, Behula, Ke Tumi, Azam, Nasghor, Nolok, Ghor Vanga Ghor, Payse, Titash Ekti Nadir Naam, Princess Tina Khan, Ghani, etc. She received the Bangladesh National Film Award for Lifetime Achievement for her contribution to Bengali Films in 2014. Sarker died on the 7th of July, 2018 in Dhaka, Bangladesh due to old-age ailments.
