Sarpatta Paramabarai and Idiyappa Parambarai are the rivals. Both the clans clash for the boxing title. Rangan was once the title winner of boxing and is from Sarpatta Parambarai. Duraikannu from Idiyappa Parambarai is Rangan’s rival. After a few years, Idiyappa Parambarai's people had been the leading stars. Kabilan works in Chennai port as a wage laborer. He is a boxing enthusiast from Sarpatta Parambarai. But, he keeps himself away from the sport as his mother, Bakkiyam, doesn’t want him to be in the sport. Vembuli from Idiyappa Paramabarai is the current champion. The situation changes, and Kabilan enters the ring once again. But, besides sports, a huge politics is involved. The rest of the story deals if Kabilan won the championship, breaking the politics.
Arya had done a lot of homework for the role. He toned his body and appeared as a real champion. His performance is excellent. Pasupathy is superb, as usual. Anupama’s expressions and dialogue delivery are perfect. Kalaiyarasan and Dushara had done a neat job. The rest of the stars fit well in their roles.
Pa Ranjith is an expert in portraying human emotions and relationships. He had always correlated them with sports in some way. This is one of his best films so far. The screenplay, dialogues, and sequences are perfect. The BGM and the cinematography are really appreciable. Editing is perfect. The production design is stunning. They have designed the background extraordinarily well. Kudos to the art director.
What’s Not There?
Sarpatta Parambarai is a good sports drama that comes with sports, sentiment, relationships, and pride. It is not only for Ranjith and Arya fans, but the intense drama is for the people who love sports movies too!
