Plot

Cook Babu, who had been with Kalidasan and Maya moves from their house after some misunderstanding. He meets four women, who live in an apartment. Soon, he impresses them with his cooking skill. Later, he shifts his residence to their flat. Why did he leave Kalidasan? Will he join him once again? Who are those women? Did they support Babu? The answers reveal the rest of the story.

Star Performance

Baburaj did his best as usual. Lal, Shweta, Rachana Narayanankutty, Oviya and Lena had also showcased their talents.

Analysis

Baburaj brings back his character from the 2011 movie Salt N' Pepper. Although there are some nostalgic moments from Salt N' Pepper, Black Coffee has some interesting comedy elements. However, some work out well and some are not. With some decent script laced with comedy, Baburaj managed to convince the audience. The roles are equally shared and each star gets a special screen space. The music composition is good and so does the cinematography and editing. The production values are pretty decent.

What’s There?

  • The artists’ performance is neat
  • Music and cinematography are perfect

What’s Not There?

  • Not all the situational comedy scenes worked out

Verdict

Black Coffee comes with both pluses and minuses. The comedy works in some parts and in some places, we feel that it’s already told umpteen times. However, it’s a good time pass for the weekend.
