The show was a seamless collection of good writing and quality-level acting performances which is what made it one of PTV’s all-time biggest hits.

The audience saw the personal life, family, struggles and environment of a poor poet, and columnist, Mirza Nafees Barelvi, and his wife, Bano. They share a typical husband and wife relationship, one where they are constantly bickering with one another. Mirza was going through a difficult time because of the decline in the demand for literary consumption, which directly impacted them. The poverty-stricken family witnesses ups and downs with, the entry of new interesting characters in their lives. The storyline is all about the hardships that the poet goes through, and interestingly the writers used the mode of comedy and satire to portray this intense social issue.

The show was filled with dialogues that were dripping with sarcasm and often referred to the national and social problems of the time, and this is precisely what made it impactful and ultimately enabled it to stand out in time. The beauty of the show was how the entire drama was staged on a single set, that being a room in an old house. The timeless, moving performance of the actors and the brilliant writing and direction of the show has made it a rather memorable one.
