Sun Singer 1 is a Tamil reality television show. It had been based on a singing competition. This Tamil reality television show had been telecasted on the Tamil channel of Sun TV. This Tamil reality television show is, first and foremost, a talent hunt in singing competency only for children. In this Tamil reality television show children of age between six years to thirteen years, in Tamil Nadu, are auditioned and signed up for this competition. According to the official website of Sun TV, the show had been a reinvented piece of work from Sun TV’s previous singing competition and mega TV reality show, Sapthaswarangal.

This Tamil reality television show was a huge success, and as a result had been renewed for multiple seasons, which were telecasted on Sun TV for over a decade. This Tamil reality television show had also introduced many young talents into the playback industry. Some of them had been Karthik, Ranjith, Chinmayi, Mahathi, and Vinaya Karthik Rajan. Basing on the success of this Tamil reality television show Sun TV launched another singing reality television show called Sun Singer. This Tamil reality television show is telecasted on every Sunday, at 11:00 a.m., on the Tamil channel Sun TV. This Tamil reality television show is sponsored and powered by Cadbury Oreo. Each episode of this Tamil reality television show comprises of one hour of running time in length.

This Tamil reality television show has telecasted a total number of four seasons up till now. Season 1 was anchored by the very famous singer Manasi, and it ran from 27 January 2013 to 4 August 2013, which was for a period of about six months. With season 2 a new concept was introduced. The new concept was that each episode will be hosted by different anchors. This season too was telecasted for a period of about six months. Season 3 of this Tamil reality television show was telecasted over a period of about ten months, from 9 March 2014 to 4 January 2015. As soon as this season ended, it was followed by season 4, which was telecasted over a period of about one entire year, from 11 January 2015 to 24 January 2016. In all the four seasons the judges were GangaiAmaran, Pushpavanam Kuppuswamy, and Anuradha Sriram. And in all the four seasons the vocal training of the contestants was looked after by Gangai Amaran himself.
