Janaki and Sandhya are sisters. Janaki’s marriage is fixed to Kishore. But, Kishore and Sandhya eloped and this broke Sandhya’s relationship with everyone at home. However, they settled well in the US and gave birth to Maaya. Janaki marries Raghuram. Sandhya’s daughter Maaya is interested in Bharatanatyam and Indian culture. Janaki’s daughter, Dhanalakshmi, develops a huge interest in badminton. In a turn of events, it is revealed that Sandhya was diagnosed with cancer, and her survival chance is less. She wants to unite with her estranged family. She contacts her sister Janaki and brings her to the US. Finally, Sandhya dies in her lap. Janaki takes Maaya with her to India. Initially, Raguram doesn’t have any affection for his niece. Slowly, he develops a bond with her. Meanwhile, Dhana wants to develop her career in badminton, but she didn’t get a nod from her father. The rest of the story deals with the lives of Janaki, her daughter, Dhana and Sandhya’s daughter Maaya.
