Gowri is a TV series that started airing on Kalaignar TV on 22 January 2024, every Monday to Saturday. Pathmavathy penned the screenplay, and Parameshwar directed the series. M. B. Gowrish produced the series. P. A. Muthukumaran cranked the camera, and R. P. Manikandan edited the series.
The story starts in 1960 at Marayanur village in Madurai district. A young girl from the nearby village visits Marayanur for a festival. In the festival she meets a lady palmist, who warns her to get away from the place, as she may even face death threats. Afraid by her warnings, she starts moving. As expected by the palmist, a gang of rowdies blocks her. She gets refuge in the nearby temple. The rowdies find and beat her, and the girl loses her consciousness. Soon, they find the Goddess Maasaniamman in front of them. She punishes them and saves the girl. The landlord in the village does some rituals to maintain his family prestige and wealth. The black magician asks him to give a human sacrifice and a small girl is chosen and murdered. The story then moves to 2024. The place where the landlord and his family lived is now an abandoned area, and no one goes near the bungalow. Durga is a young girl who grows up in Marayanur. She is a do-gooder and helps everyone. Sathya is a doctor and she is married to Arjun. Sathya is a gynaecologist, and she is a sincere doctor who wants to serve people. Who is Gowri? What is the connection between Durga and Gowri? The series explains all these.
