The show features Rebeka Nirmali in the lead role, supported by Kamal Addararachchi, Sriyantha Mendis, and Edward Gunawardhana.
The story begins with the character Deemantha, a young dance teacher. Unfortunately, Deemantha is diagnosed with lung cancer. This shocks everyone in his family, especially his mother, Maya, and adoptive father, Dharmapriya. He thinks that his late father, Gunendra, died from lung cancer as well. However, his stepfather assures him that Gunendra's death was not due to cancer. He narrates the story of Gunendra's life to his dear stepson.Â
The story now flashes back to 1958. During that time, Gunendra and Dharmapriya were best friends. Gunendra is shown to be a wealthy businessman. He gets diagnosed with lung cancer and his doctor warns that his life expectancy is for mere three months. Appuhami meets Dharmapriya and asks him to post an advertisement about an Ayurvedic doctor in rural village, Thalakiriagama, who cured cancer. Gunendra visits the doctor, who cures him and advises him to stay away from alcohol. But his alcoholism just didn’t stop there. After returning, he continues to drink alcohol, distressing two of his most important people: his wife Maya and his friend Dharmapriya. Shorty, he is diagnosed with cancer again after two years.
Gunendra returns to Thalakiriyagama, the doctor who cured his cancer the first time. He learns that the doctor had died before six months. The doctor's daughter, Mangali manages to cure him this time, and his life is saved again. He falls in love with the lady who saved his life, Mangali and marries her. He returns and Maya, his wife is pregnant now. From Appuhami, Dharmapriya finds out that Mangali is also pregnant with Gunendra's child.
After the revelation of Gunendra’s heinous deed, cheating two women, and duping them, Mangali advises him to keep his marriage with Maya. Gunendra commits suicide at a beach and hence Dharmapriya takes Maya's responsibility. After that, both Maya and Mangali give birth to boys. And this is the story of how Deemantha’s birth father died right before his birth. The day after hearing the story, a somewhat traumatized Deemantha, visits Thalakiriyagama with his mother and step father. He meets Mangali, who has grown old and lives with her son.
