Jayantha Chandrasiri is a  well-known Sri Lankan journalist, screenplay writer, Television writer, and Filmmaker of Film Industry. He started his acting career in 1978. In 1979, he began to study theatre and got an International scholarship to Norway, Sweden, Germany, and the USA. After gaining knowledge, he returned home and directed the stage drama Ath. He was also the editor of the newspaper Divaina. He has also acted in the movies Sagarayak Meda and Maatha. His directorial debut, Agnidahaya, won seven Golden awards and four Silver awards at the Signis International Film Festival 2003.
Guerrilla Marketing and Samanala Sandhawaniya are some other directed movies. Jayantha has also worked in the television industry. Weda Hamine, Akala Sandhya, and Dandubasna Manaya are some of his notable serials. His teledramas, Dandubasnamanaya, and Akala Sandhya, are among one of the Seven Iconic Teledramas In Sri Lanka Television History.
