Wasantha Wittachchi is a renowned actor, stage artist, and make-up artist, active in the Sinhala film industry for more than 45 years. He completed his education at Sedawatta Siddhartha MM Vidyalaya, Wellampitiya and learned the Russian language at the Russian Culture Centre. Wasantha began acting after he got a proposal to work on Nimal Pathirana's stage drama, Raththo. Wasantha joined Lionel Wendt Art Centre for his further training in acting. Wasantha Wittachi worked in several stage dramas after getting appreciation for his role in the stage drama, Raththo. He joined the television industry with Parakrama Niriella's Kada Ima.

One of the superhit films in which Wasantha played a minor role is Guru Gedara in 1993, directed by Wijaya Dharma Sri. He is most known for his cameo role in a sci-fi action Tv series, Heily, that premiered on 2 December 2019. The series starred Buddhika Jayarathne, Anura Waragoda, Danushka Rathnayaka, and others. Wasantha Wittachchi entered the make-up department with the help of Shesha Palihakkara, a talented make-up artist. He worked as a make-up artist in several movies, including Siri Medura in 1989, Guru Gedara in 1993, Vijaya Kuweni in 2012, Butterfly Symphony in 2012, President Super Star in 2019, and many more. Wasantha also worked as a make-up artist in several award functions, including the 11th Presidential Award 1007, the 8th Swarna Sanka Cinema Awards 1997, 25th and 32nd Sarasaviya Awards in 1998 and 2007 for different artists.
