Based on the novel Swayanjatha by Samaraweera Wijesinghe, which has even won the Golden Book Award of the Sri Lanka Book Publishers 2008, the story’s script was written by Sarath Darmasiri. The storyline of the show explores the central theme of British governance in Sri Lanka and how it has affected so many lives. It deals with how power domination can hurt the emotional sentiments of people.
The story portrays the transitional era in the history of Sri Lanka, where the British governed. The s teledrama narrates a story that takes place in a rural setting. It also deals with another story depicting the falling apart of a marriage due to disloyalty and the current political situation. Director Deepthi Mangalasoma won the award for Best Art Director for her fantastic work as a director.
