M S Ananda was a Sri Lankan director, cinematographer, producer, screenplay writer. He was born on 21st April 1933. He was married to Violet Ananda, a director. His daughter Shyama Ananda is an actress. He first worked as a cinematographer in the film Gehenu Geta. His first film was Prashawanna, which was released in 1969. His other films are Mage Nangi Shyama, Chandi Shyama, Hello Shyama, Mama Baya Ne Shyama. As a cinematographer he worked on Ranmathu Duwa, Deepashika, Heta Pramada Wadi, Golu Hadawatha, Akkara Paha, Gehenu Lamai, Nidhayana. He died at the age of 83 after contributing towards Sri Lankan film industry.
