Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo is a Korean series telecasted on MBC on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 pm. The show, written by Yang Hee-Seung, was directed by Oh Hyun-jong, and it aired from 16th November 2016 to 11th January 2017. Kim Joon-suk and Jung Se-rin are the composers. Lee Jin-Duk, Kim Sun-Chul, and Park Hwa-jin cranked the camera, and Oh Sere-na edited the series. Chorokbaem Media produced the series on a large scale.

Kim Bok Joo dreams about creating records in weightlifting. She is getting trained in an Athlete college. During the training, she develops a special bonding with her friend's elder brother, Jung Jae-Yi. Initially, her friend, Joon Hyung, helps Kim for her love. He is the cousin of Jung. Soon, Jung starts falling for Kim. Will he open up to Kim? What will happen to the bonding between Kim and Joon’s cousin? The rest of the story deals with it.

Lee Sung-Kyung plays the role of Kim Bok-Joo. Kim is a weightlifter who is ambitious. Her father was a weightlifter, and hence she got inspired to become a weightlifter. She is so shy and not comfortable with boys. But, she will not keep mum if anyone pulls her unnecessarily.

Nam Joo-hyuk plays the role of Kim’s friend, Jung Joon-Hyung. Kim and Jung were friends in elementary school. They meet again during their sports training. Jung is a good swimmer and a fun-loving person.

Lee Jae-Yoon plays the role of Jung Jae-Yi. He was an athlete, and after an injury, he quits sports and becomes a doctor.

Kyung Soo-jin plays the role of Song Shi-ho. She is Bok-Joo's roommate and the former lover of Joon-Hyung. She still loves Joon and becomes tensed when she sees Joon and Bok-Joo together. Cho Hye-Jung, as Jung Nan-hee 정난희, despite her strength, is a very feminine girl who dreams of romance and is always willing to spread happiness.

Lee Joo-young, Choi Moo-sung, Jang Young-Nam, Oh Eui-Shik, Lee Bit-Na, Moon Ji-Yoon, Jo Mi-Nyeo, Yoo Joon-hong, Noh Yeong-Joo, and Lee Ye-bin are in the supporting roles.
