The story is somehow based on reflecting the reality of Indian politics. The series' name is Tandav, and the story is similar to its name. A Tandav is going on between many people to gain power in politics. Everyone is fighting for the Prime Minister's chair, and the main thing that the story reflects is that no one is a relative of anyone in politics.

The story begins with the fascinating leader of a premiere political party known as Janata Lok Dal (JLD), named Samar Pratap Singh (Saif Ali Khan). he thought he was ready to take the chair of PM. Still, the twist is that the party patriarch and the PM, Devki Nandan Singh (Tigmanshu Dhulia), doesn't want to retire yet. In this series, Dimple Kapadia plays a similar lead role to Anuradha Kishore, who is trying to compete against Samar Pratap Singh to become the prime minister. One of them, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, plays Shiva Shekhar and is seen essaying the role of a politician. The story revolves around attaining power in politics.
