MTV Exit Traffic is a short television series made by the Indian film director AnuragKashyap. The first episode of this series was aired in the year 2014, in February 2014. The anchor of the show was AnuragKashyap, himself. This show, which was an initiative to raise awareness about human trafficking, was tie up between MTV India and the UK-based foundation MTV End Exploitation and Trafficking. A comfortable life is what each human being always strives to gain. But what happens when in the lure of opportunities that seem to be beneficial you are trapped in something which is, in reality, a nightmare?

Human trafficking has victimized a lot of people from all over the planet. To come out and show the reality of this side of the world, MTV India, and MTV Exit came together with AnuragKashyap as their director and made a five-episode eye-opening television series in the genre of thriller. The series was a part of a worldwide campaign to educate the young minds about the increasing presence of human trafficking around them, and it aims to bring out an uproar which will impact and change the recent scenario. The slogan of the campaign, and thus the series, is “Stop. Think. Act.”

Although the human trafficking is the highlighting characteristic of this series, it had many layers of its own. All the layers were contributed by the various types of human trafficking. The first element which was focused upon was domestic servitude. The next layer covered the aspect of forced marriage completely. The third layer came was the largest threat of human trafficking, which is being sold into the corners of prostitution. Although slavery has been wiped out from the world on the moral and legal basis, it persists in many places, and this became the fourth element of the subject.

The last layer focused on the depths of bonded labor and organ trafficking. The show highlighted a lot of facts regarding these cases, like more than two lakh people, have been believed to be trafficked through, within, or into India on an annual basis. The show also featured a lot of speakers like politicians and activists, who gave real life estimations and perspective on the subject. They were deliberately asked a lot of questions regarding opening the closet on this topic so that people can finally be aware of the atrocities surrounding them in the country and the society.
