He considers others to be lowly from his own standards and treats his subordinates very inhumanly. As a result, he creates enmity with many persons as well as subordinates. His treatment with his driver gives so much of pain to the driver's son that he vows to take revenge.

Over a period of time, the family is in deep financial troubles and have to leave their palatial house to stay with other relatives. The driver's son Jagmohan, who is now a senior lawyer, buys the palatial house to take revenge on Thakur. Thakur's daughter Abha (played by Suhasi Dhami) tries to find a job for financial support to the family and lands a job as secretary of Jagmohan. He hides the fact of her being Thakur's daughter to save her job. The situation becomes more and more complicated for her as Jagmohan's younger son Karan , played by Karan Grover falls in love with her.

The story moves on and after many topsy turvy ups and downs, leads to a situation where the family has to meet the ultimate fate of living with the adjustments in life even after the best efforts of Abha to save their family pride. The serial was originally telecast on Zee TV from November 17, 2009 to July 14, 20112 with more than 700 episodes. It was so popular that it was re-telecast on FBC TV in the Fiji Islands.

Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli is an Indian drama television series by Rajshri Productions that aired on Zee TV. Notable actors Zahida Parveen, Zarina Wahab, Smita Jaykar, and Alok Nath, acted in this serial. Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli is the story of the families related to the grand mansion called Swarn Bhawan, located in Ujjain. The Thakur family becomes the owner of Swarn Bhawan. Thakur Uday Pratap Singh along with his wife, Thakurain Chandra Prabha, their eldest daughter Swarn Lata, son Swarn Prakash, and their youngest daughter Swarn Abha live in the house. The Thakur family faces unexpected circumstances and are forced to abandon Swarn Bhawan by Uday Pratap's father's driver's son, Jagmohan Prasad.

The Thakur family lives with Raghav Pandit, Chandra Prabha's brother, who was once Thakur Uday Pratap's dewan. Abha work as Jagmohan's employee in the house under a different name. Karan gets injured in an accident in Mumbai and is declared dead. Abha meets Sidharth, his lookalike, who is an actor and screenwriter. His actual name is Ranchod. She later knows that Ranchod is Karan's twin brother whom Jagmohan handed over to Mr. Tiwari at birth. Ranchod agrees to help Abha and act as Karan for 11. Ranchod meets Karan in the hospital, and sees that Karan is about to die so he promises that he will protect Abha.

The Prasad family wants Karan and Abha to bring Ranchod back, with the family planning a grand celebration for both sons. Abha is about to tell the sad news about Karan to the family when Ranchod enters. Abha is pregnant with Karan's baby. During Holi celebration, Ranchod is exposed. He then explains to the family that he was fulfilling Karan's last wish. Karan is alive and is saved by Dr. Arundhati, who takes him home. She names him Neel as Karan cannot speak and is paralyzed. Shaili finds a picture of Karan in the newspaper and keeps this secret away from Abha and Ranchod. Abha and Ranchod marry after they realize Karan is dead. Abha is still upset over Karan's disappearance and falls down the stairs and loses her baby.
