are presented by the Directorate of Film Festival and the organization set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India to focus on the best of the Indian Cinema released in the year 1997. Awards were presented in May 1998 and presented in July by the President of India, K.R Narayanan. There are three categories in which the awards are divided that are feature films, non-feature films, and books written on Indian Cinema.
