English Web Series The Sympathizer

The Sympathizer is a web series that was made in English and Vietnamese, and was streamed on HBO on 14th April 2024. The last episode was released on 26th May 2024. It is based on the 2015 book The Sympathizer written by Viet Thanh Nguyen. It has seven episodes.

A North Vietnamese spy serves in the South Vietnamese army. At the end of the war, he was forced to flee with his general to the US. He was living in a community as a South Vietnamese refugee, but he continued to spy on the community. His struggle between his new life and his original loyalties forms the main plot.

Park Chan-wook, Don McKellar, Mark Richard, Naomi Iizuka, Maegan Houang, and Anchuli Felicia King scripted the series.
