Chinna Chinna Aasai is a social awareness based reality show which came on the channel Makkal TV. The series is a Tamil language one which came on every weekend between Saturday and Sunday. The program takes a hard look at some of the realities of the world we live in but overlook many times. It makes an attempt to make society as a whole more aware of the kind of difficulties some people have to go through especially from a very young age.
This heart-warming and touching series gets hosted by the renowned Aarti. She lends a distinct voice of compassion and kindness to the entire series which helps to elevate the entire program. There are many childhood television series which run in today’s date, but none which attempts to make a true difference to the life of kids who have to fight for their very existence. It is an easy task to portray fun and enjoyment, but it is extremely difficult to take this air of frolic to others who would otherwise be bereft of it. The task of motivating kids on the street who go from day to day attempting to survive is an arduous one. Kids in well-to-do families today get every conceivable benefit and opportunity. They get the latest technology right at their fingertips, but there are very few who can make use of these opportunities to make a difference where it matters the most. This show takes a hard look at the pain and suffering these children must go through for no fault of their own. They all portray what is the true family situation when it comes to other kids like themselves and thus to spread awareness about what can happen. The program motivates them by presenting them with their favorite presents and makes it a day which is enjoyable. These kids get taken out to visit some places of enjoyment where they wouldn’t normally step into.
Chinna Chinna Aasai thus gives underprivileged children the rare opportunity for fulfilling their small dreams but which leave a huge mark on them. The program wishes to make some kind of a difference to these children who all live out on the streets. These children get very easily overlooked by many of us, and they got left to become statistics in the various national as well as international reports telecast year after year.
The anchor of this show visits children in the very slums that they stay in. She then listens to what they all desires, and which may be quite trivial for us but is a very big thing for them. Small things such as gifting a new dress, or going out and eating ice creams, getting to ride a bicycle, or getting a new pair of shoes are some of their most heartfelt desires.
