The series explores the conflicts between family members arising from their differing social and political backgrounds. The character, Podi Paththarakari, in the show, gained significant popularity. The story is about Aliya returning to Kethaliyas home, where Prabath, Yamuna, Revathi, and Nilhan reside. Yamuna and Prabath struggle to earn a living, while Revathi faces difficulties with marriage proposals that never come to fruition. Nilhan works as a journalist near Narmada. Meanwhile, Suren, who reluctantly married Judy, persistently attempts to win Narmadas affections but encounters substantial obstacles. Throughout these developments, the families confront numerous challenges, leaving their mother, Kethaliya, and Aliya feeling helpless in each situation. Later, Narmada eventually marries Suren, but their relationship becomes complicated due to Surens political background. This conflicted with Narmadas media career. Simultaneously, Aliya begins a relationship with Vihanga. Their families are enemies. The couple elopes in hopes of establishing a better life together, but subsequently experiences a tragic accident. Later, a character named Podi Paththarakari was introduced as Nilhans girlfriend. She is portrayed as a young woman from London who comes to Sri Lanka to study journalism.

Upon her arrival, she boldly challenges Nilhan that she will become Narmadas best student. When Narmada establishes her office, she recruits Nilhan, Podi Paththarakari, and Manual. Podi Paththarakari and Nilhan develop a friendship characterized by frequent arguments. Though Podi Paththarakari harbors romantic feelings for Nilhan, he initially dismisses her interest. Determined, she challenges him, declaring that she will win his heart. Gradually, Nilhan begins to reciprocate her feelings, leading to the development of their relationship.
