Gayani Gisanthika is an actress cum writer working in the Sri Lankan entertainment industry. She was born on 28th December 1973 in Badulla, Sri Lanka. Gayani did her acting course at Actor’s Lab at the University of Melbourne. She also trained at Sri Lanka's National Youth Centre. Gayani is married and has 2 sons, Mayon and Mithun. She started her career as a theatre artist. She received the Best Actress Award in 1993 for her performance in the theatre drama Tittha Kusalana. Her most popular roles are in the theatre dramas Che Guevara of Buddhika Damayantha, and The Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Champa Buddhipala. She is noted for her performances in the movies Ammawarune directed by Lester James Pieris and Sarigama by Somarathne Dissanayake. Her performance in Sarigama helped her get the Best Supporting Actress award in 2016. In 2017, she received the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in the series Maddahana.

In the early 2000s, she played in films, including Pickpocket, Thani Thatuwen Piyabanna, and A Letter of Fire. In 2019, she played in the film Asandhimitta.
