Plot
Raghava is the prince of Ayodhya. His father, King Dhasharatha, plans for his crowning ceremony, but his stepmother Kaikeyi has different plans. As per her plan, Raghava was sent to the forest for 14 years of exile with his wife, Janaki. They were accompanied by Raghava’s brother, Sesh. During their exile period, Lankesh kidnaps Janaki, and Raghava and his brother Sesh fight against Lankesh to get Janaki back. After killing Lankesh in the war, Raghava returned to Ayodhya and was crowned the King.
Star Performance
Though Prabhas plays the lead role, Raghav, it is Saif Ali Khan who steals the show as Lankesh. His mannerisms and dialogue delivery are perfect for a menacing villain. The rest of the stars played as per directed.
Analysis
As the story is well-known to the entire nation, the author didn’t take much time to establish the characters. Prabhas is okayish as Ram. However, his makeup is not good as expected. Kriti fits well in the role. Saif Ali Khan’s Ravan is strongly established, and his negative character has overtaken the rest of the roles, including the leads. The cinematography is quite decent. The VFX effects should have been better for this high-budget film. The songs are good, the BGM for Saif is fantastic, and it helped the character get established well. 3D effects are not much impressive. The film was expected to be concluded with a happy ending, but the viewers didn’t get a satisfactory climax.

Verdict
The film that created a massive expectation for years didn’t live up to the expectation. However, it is watchable once for the making and the performances.
