Plot

Muthu lives in a village with his family, mother, and sister. While working in the field, he gets injured. So, his mom wants him to try a safe and better job. She sends him with a relative to Mumbai. There he works in a parotta shop. How the common man who works in the parotta shop gets connected to an underworld gang and what happens to him and his family forms the rest of the plot.

Star Performance

Simbu’s natural performance is the fulcrum of the story. His innocent character in the first half and the stunning transformation in the second half are excellent. Siddhi Idnani has done a decent job. No need to review Radhika’s performance, and she is perfect as ever.

Analysis

Gangster thrillers are not new to Kollywood and GVM. Gautham Menon should be appreciated for picking up the right stars. Simbu is a good selection; he fulfilled the director’s idea and satisfied his fans. The stylish dialogues are a treat to his fans. Neeraj Madhav and Siddique fit well in the roles and impress the audience, though they are unfamiliar to the Tamil audience. The action scenes are well-choreographed. The romantic scenes are okay, but they should’ve been designed well. AR Rahman’s songs and BGM are good. The visuals are fantastic and so do the production designs. Many single-shot scenes are seen, and they are pictured fantastically.

Verdict

Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu has its ups and downs. Though the screenplay and the story appear to have some contradictions, the film didn’t disappoint the audience. In short, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is Vetri Pettradhu Simbuvin Kaadu!
