MORE CAST & CREW
“ Thappattam” is the rural entertainer that has debutante Durai Sudhakar in the lead role. He enters the film industry with the epithet, Public Star. The movie also has the star cast of Dona Rosario, Mujibur Rahman, Ruby, Jayakumar, Koothupattarai Tulasi, Prof Lakshmi, Pollachi MK Raja, Pena Mani and UMT Raja. Mujibur Rahman directed the film and the music composition is by Pazhani Balu. Rajan cranks the camera and Saran Shanmugam is the editor. Radhika Master is the dance choreographer. Adam Bava produced the film under the banner Moon Pictures. Besides having the newbies, the filmmaker has great guts to release the film along with “ Vivegam.” Kudos to his positivity! The maker had already announced that they would donate the proceeds of the film to the Tamilnadu farmers.
The film is a timeline drama that happened in 1984. The plot has nothing special but the age old Tamil film story. The husband always doubts his wife. What happens in their family life, when they don’t have a proper understanding? This is the simple plot of Thappattam.
Sudhakar, the hero, has played his role properly. Although he had slipped in a few places, his performance is okayish. He had excelled in minute expressions. Dona had a lot of space to emote. She has done justice to her role. Her performance is similar to that of “ Priyamani” in Paruthi Veeran. The director Mujibur played the maternal uncle to the hero and he had also done his part quite well.
Although the director has chosen the old script, he has the ability to get the work from them. Mujibur Rahman has excelled in filming the climax. The screenplay is perfect too.
What’s Not There?
Thappaattam is a good performance oriented entertainer with an old script. People, who love to watch the rural stories can have a try!
