Velu is married to Poonkodi and they live in a hilly area. They don’t even have a basic facility there and had to travel for miles. Velu earns through beekeeping. Velu and Poonkodi are blessed with a child. After a few years, Poonkodi suffers from severe stomach pain. Following this, he takes her to the government hospital located in the town. Velu doesn’t know that he had to provide essential documents to get the treatment at the hospital. What did he do? Was he able to get help from doctors? Did his wife get well? The answers form the rest of the story.
Tharun did an excellent job. His body language and emotions are impressive. Abarnathi is good at emoting. Bava Lakshmanan impresses with his natural performance.
The film showcases the people who are unaware of the ID cards that prove that they are citizens of the nation. Similarly, the movie shows the malpractices involved to get the ID cards. The script is well-written and the dialogues are sharp. Besides these, the biggest plus point is the cinematography. The aerial shots are worth mentioning and the cinematographer has taken us to the Kurinji hills with his cool shots. The BGM is good. The production value is quite decent. Although the film didn’t have popular stars, the performance of the leads makes us watch the film throughout.

Thaen is a performance-oriented film that makes us feel for the characters and also it showcases ignorance and malpractices. It is watchable once!
