Plot

A Bharati, a B-grade movie director, and Ramesh Thilak, his cameraman, run into trouble when pitching his new story to a producer. This leads to finding a new producer for their movie and the shoot begins. During the shoot, Bharati’s girlfriend witnesses a disturbing scene, followed by Bharati himself seeing an exorcism. Back home, Bharati’s girlfriend gets possessed and demands they move to ‘Anacondapuram’ where they encounter the actual ghost of Mayasena. They flee from the fort in an attempt to escape the ghost, leading them to Rajendra who narrates to them the story of Mayasena, the queen of Anacondapuram fort, and how she ended up a ghost. The rest of the movie revolves around digging into the past of Mayasena and their attempt to escape her wrath.

Star Performance

Sunny Leone does justice to her character in all the scenes in which she appears in front of the audience. Sathish does an okay job with his character, while Ramesh Thilak tries his best to bring life to his character.

Analysis

The film released under the banner of horror-comedy produces no humor whatsoever. The writers crafted the jokes poorly with the same age-old crack at humor.

Every actor tries to incinerate the jokes into the audience but fails one by one. Acting can only do so much when the lines written are so poor. The only thing that stands out is the glamorous presence of Sunny Leone, but even that fails to uplift the movie. There are no praiseworthy or memorable performances and the scenes are too blatant to remember. The second half of the movie focuses entirely on Sunny Leone, with the addition of a grand sequence. The background scores are untimely and in no way give support to the scenes. Also, the horror scenes do not provide any jump scare or thrilling experience for the audience. To make things even worse, the insane objectification of women puts off any interest that you had in it in the first place. Sunny Leone could have chosen a stronger script and story to make her debut in Kollywood.

What’s There?

  • Charisma and screen presence of Sunny Leone
  • Few comedy scenes work out

What’s Not There?

  • A Proper script is not present
  • Creative and new storyline absent
  • Absence of scary scenes to justify the tag of the horror genre
  • A good background score to support the scenes is not present

Verdict

Overall, the movie falls way under the expected benchmark of a proper horror-comedy movie. With the poor script and character development, it is very hard to sit through the film with a straight face. The only positives of the film are the acting of Sunny Leone and Darsha Gupta, who does a fairly good job with their roles. The cliche plot and insane objectification of women make it harder for the audience to digest the movie. A poor attempt in every department of the movie. Yet again, another Tamil movie in the horror-comedy niche falls under the rubble.
