Thamaasha Movie Review

Plot

Srinivasan is a 31 year-old college professor, who is finding it difficult to find a bride because of the fact that he is balding. He grows extremely conscious of his looks. He is persuaded by his friend to find a bride in person and sets out to do so. However, his zest of pursuing marriages dies down because of multiple failed attempts of courting women. After a meeting gone wrong he meets Chinnu, who he takes interest in. Will he find a life partner or will she be just another name on his list of mailed marriage attempts?

Star Performance

All the performances were excellent. The cast delivers their respective characters with nuance, which made the audience connect with the characters well. The actors really helped drive the message and the film with their realistic performances.

Analysis

The driving force of the film is its message. The most amount of attention is paid to the characters’ pain, what makes it difference is the way that the message is relayed to the audience. It has comedic elements balanced with tension and never crosses into the melodrama genre, which is commendable. The emotional scenes land very well because the characters are easy to root for.

Verdict

Thamaasha is a great film with a strong message. It is entertaining for the most part and succeeds in what it sets out to do- entertain, educate and introspect.
