Those who are acquainted with the supernatural happenings would know the word Ouija. It is nothing but a spirit board that talks. This word is a mix of two words Oui & Ja. This denotes Yes in German and French languages. Hollywood is not new to making films of such genres and, in fact, there are still people who have belief in these boards. People who have left the world will speak with the living through this board. But again, these talking boards are not that famous in India as in Hollywood. Analysis

Ouija is a bilingual film, being made in Kannada and Telugu. So for obvious reasons actors from both the terrain are seen in the movie. Though the plot of the film looks tried and tested (like a spiritual saint helping the girls) there is some freshness in the handling of the script. Rajkumar, who has helmed direction for this film, has managed to keep the adrenaline running. Also, unlike other horror films, which bank on darkness, this film also shows many moments of light.

Plot

The film has the backdrop of Malaysia. Three young girls are having a great time in their lives and start on a vacation journey. Eventually, they plan to do a short film thinking that it would appeal to the audience, and rope in an aspiring actor and his verve motivates them. The Ouija board is the crux of the film. Once “Ouija” enters their lives, peculiar happenings take place in their lives and danger seem to lurk. Is it a play of a vengeful spirit or is anyone among the four hatching a plan to destroy the other three? Watch the flick to find out.

The three girls, Madhuri, Gayathri, and Kadambhari, have done what is required of them. Bharath suits his role to the T. What’s there?

1. The production values are the highlight of the film. Vega Entertainment has lived up to its reputation.
2. Ravikumar’s cinematography is excellent.
3. Well, watch out for newbie Harinikesh. His music is just outstanding. The four numbers complement with the movie well.
4. The second half is highly interesting with all its twists and thrills.
