Plot
Maaran is a celebrity who has been thrown face-first into a scandal. Upon his wife's advice, he disappears from the public eye and goes undercover while his wife handles the controversy. He finds himself in a secluded forest in an attempt to lie low. But there he is attacked by four goons who seem to be out for his blood. They attack him and abandon him on the ground, thinking he is dead.
Aadhi, played by Nishanth Russo, is a criminal with a penchant for petty thefts. A fateful turn of events pushes him to help a constable working on a murder case to Maaran's body. Somehow, without his knowledge, Aadhi ends up handcuffed to the body.
It is then that Aadhi discovers that the body is, in fact, still alive. He learns of Maaran's circumstances and becomes entangled in them. The two of them then embark upon an adventure to save Maaran's life from the goons that are hunting him down to kill him.
Star Performance
The acting by the cast is quite decent in this film. Nishanth Russo and Vivek Prasanna take the helm and deliver a commendable performance. They bring intensity and raw emotion to their roles.
Another noteworthy performance is that of Gayathiri Iyer, who plays the role of Maaran's wife. She is portrayed as a strong female character, and delivers on her part.
Analysis
Parundhaaguthu Oor Kuruvi has a good, unique plot. The narrative is engaging, and the acting is good. But it ultimately comes down to how well the filmmakers are able to execute the plot. In that aspect, the film has quite a few flaws.
The writing of the film is poorly carried out. Although the main idea of the film is promising, poorly staged scenes and badly written dialogues nullify the refreshing theme. The film is meant to be a thriller, but the scenes are simply too superficial and aren't explored enough for the suspense to pop. The plot is also typical in some ways and odd in others, which makes the film seem all over the place. The plot is undoubtedly unique and promising, but it's nothing without good writing.
There is just one relevant female character throughout the film. She too, is shown as morally ambiguous. Her character could be written in a much more nuanced way if more attention had been paid to the writing.
That being said, the film is not entirely bad. Some parts of the film have been cleverly handled, such as the character development of Aadhi, from someone who was only trying to save Maaran for the sake of money, to someone who wanted to do it simply because it was the right thing to do. The romance between Maaran and his wife, Divya, has also been portrayed well.
The cinematography of the film is not bad, although the scenes are too dark in terms of lighting. The background score is decent.

Parundhaaguthu Oor Kurvi is a film with a solid plot but poor execution. It may be entertaining as a one-time watch, but it has too many flaws overall to resemble any sort of a classic in the realm of thrillers.
