Plot:

Municipality (Shams) rescues a baby from a street dog. After knowing the parents are nowhere near, he sets out to find the infant’s parents. In his quest, he is joined by four of his friends- Soda, Sursuri, Cutting and Dhed-Shanna. The film even has the kid questioning the saint-like status with which he holds mothers. The film is a raw take on the lives of children who are left to fend for themselves. It is a story revolving around the dark shades of hope, where reality is as hard as the concrete where the kids dwell.

Analysis:

The movie is heart-warming and gut-wrenching at the same time. The kids who have not experienced parental love are going on an adventure to find that same love for an infant. It is too much to handle sometimes. The children deserve mention wherever necessary. They are in a little league of their own. The brash language adds to the realism of the movie. Overall, the movie is a treat for the rusted heart.

Star Performances:

The performances of the kids, who bring to us the streets of Mumbai, is refreshing and exhilarating. Their simple pleasures become ours; their impending sorrows becomes ours, and their quest, at last, becomes ours too.

What’s there?

1. The fantastic portrayal of the Mumbai streets.

2. The no glitter and glam setting of the film.

3. The children who have given life to the movie.

4. The overall reality.

5. The quick alacrity.

What’s not there?

What’s not there for the film is the warm welcome it deserves on screen in the Indian mainstream cinema!

Verdict:

The film that hits you hard in the stomach with issues we often overlook, because we think it is beyond our helping. The film unflinchingly brings the issues to us and makes us see the side we never thought existed. Kudos to the new director on bringing such an insanely real film. The film is, of course, worth more than a watch.
