ANALYSIS:
The animation of this film is praiseworthy as it goes beyond the amateurish cartoons to a skilled three-dimensional characterisation. However, the monotonous story and showcasing of women as mere men-wooing objects are the biggest minus points. Thanks to YRF production, you will notice lot of references to their films. If you forget the dogs on screen are walking on two legs and dancing in pubs, you can enjoy the movie. The smart and witty writing will leave you in splits.
STAR PERFORMANCES:
Saif Ali Khan’s voice suits filmy and flirty, Romeo. Kareena Kapoor Khan’s voice for Laila will thrill the audience for the required velvety touch adding a touch of seductive tone. Javed Jaffrey, as Charlie Anna, will entertain you with a South Indian accent. Romeo’s friends are hilarious.
What’s there?
1. Appreciable animation.
2. Witty dialogue.
3. Groovy music.
What’s not there?
1. New story line.
2. Respectable characterization of women.
VERDICT:
Watch Roadside Romeo for its better computer generated animation and humorous writing at places. But for stereotyping and disrespecting women, it is a big no!
