As Meghan Miles finds herself stranded in a part of Los Angeles after a one-night stand, her hilarious desperate journey to her most important interview begins, as she scrambles and sprints out of wacky scenarios for that one big break in her TV news anchoring career she had always wanted.
Plot: Meghan Miles is an aspiring TV news anchor in Los Angeles, who is in a very close competition with another anchor for the promotion to the network anchor desk. After coming to know about how her fiancé left her, she spirals into sadness but is soon rescued by her two friends who convince her to go out and party. Outside a club, she meets a good-looking guy and decides to spend the night with him at his place. However, when she gets a phone call about the interview she is supposed to be giving for her promotion that day, her day starts to go up in smoke. The various people and situations that she has to come across and overcome to get to her interview when she is left in an unknown part of her town without her purse, phone or car is what makes this movie.
Elizabeth tries her best to justify the role of Meghan Miles in a skimpy banana yellow dress and stilettos, her acting, and comic timings are very much commendable. However, there are some plot-holes that the viewer cannot help but question as they are watching the movie. The fact that she covers new for Los Angeles and has been living here makes it kind of obvious that she should know the town well enough to be able to get around it with ease. Moreover, the fact that she somehow can’t borrow someone’s phone and call her friend is also a little strange considering how she doesn’t remember any phone numbers. The backdrop of her desperation is a little uncomfortable as whenever she goes out to ask anyone for help, she is either recognized as a prostitute or a drug dealer, or a witch, and she rarely gets help from anybody.
Even though the acting of the cast has been able to hold some aspect of the movie in light, but the poor screenplay and the stereotypical side characters in the movie may not seem very agreeable to all viewers. All the rough drug dealers or criminals that she encounters are all of color, with some really rough and offensive language as one would typically expect from people of their profession.
Verdict: To this borderline misogynistic comedy that tries its best to crack a laugh at the plight of a woman in distress, I give this movie 2 out of 5 victories.
