The film starts with a fight between big creatures involving T-Rex (Dinosaur), crocodile-lizard hybrids, and a giant megalodon ( big tooth shark). Then, the story moves to a sea warrior named Jonas Taylor. He is working as a detective journalist gathering evidence against all those people who are contaminating the seawater with radioactive waste. Things become more interesting when Jiuming (Wu Jing) reveals that he has a connection with Meg.
Now, a scientific team headed by Jonas Taylor starts an exploratory mission to the lowest depths of the ocean. However, their journey turns into chaos when an illegal mining operation threatens the mission and endangers their lives. Moreover, deadly giant sharks and other creatures surround them.
What will Jonas and his team do? Will they be able to save themselves?
Jason Statham delivered a brilliant performance full of emotions. He alone runs the film. His dialogues are full of sensibility. His character as an eco-warrior is appealing to the viewers. His action scenes are mind-blowing. No matter in which movie Jason is, he seems to coming out from the fast and furious film. His song It's a Megalodon is an impressive part of this film.
Wu Jing as Jiuming Zhang looks decent on the screen. He tried his best for this film. Sophia Cai, who played the role of Jiuming’s niece, looks beautiful on screen. Her dialogue delivery and expressions are fantastic. Page Kennedy and Sergio Peris-Mencheta did everything required for this film.
The film is full of action, emotional, thrilling, and tragic elements. It is inspired by the 1999 novel The Trench written by Steve Alten. Dean Georgaris, Erich Hoeber, and Jon Hoeber, the same team that worked on The Meg (2018), again return with a fantastic story and screenplay. There is more suspense than the film’s first part.
The film takes the viewers into a world of aquatic Jurassic Park. Besides evoking laughter, it also creates an atmosphere of terror. The music is mind-blowing, especially in the Shark scenes. The cinematography further enriches the film’s terror atmosphere.
However, the first half of the film is less engaging. The real climax begins in the second half. Despite having more action, this film does not entertain the viewers as much as the previous film, The Meg (2018). Many unnecessary scenes are included, which makes the film stretch.
• Action and emotional scenes.
• Thrilling, suspense, and horror elements.
• Science-fiction and adventure.
• Stunning Giant creatures like the big tooth shark.
• Excellent performance by fast and furious actor Jason Statham.

What’s Not There?
• The first half seems to be boring.
• Illogical scenes.

• Minor flaws.
Meg 2: The Trench is an entertaining film that gives a thrilling experience to the viewers. However, due to some flaws, the movie failed to compete with its first part, The Meg, released in 2018. People who watched its first part should definitely try this film. It might give goosebumps to some of the viewers.
