does the role of Mickey Haller in the movie ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’. He bears a charisma that is unique to him. He does a defense lawyer in the film, and he is seen spending all his time taking up the defense of small-time criminals. But, he raises his eyebrows as he has to defend a playboy Louis Roulet played by Ryan Phillippe.Â
Ryan is slapped with charges of attempting to murder. Mickey judges the case to be very easy, and through which he could get a lump sum. But, the plot unfolds such that there is more of danger in the case. The main accusation on Roulet is of beating up a sex worker. Roulet maintains that false charges have been slapped on him. Mickey, along with Frank Levin, portrayed by William H. Macy, senses something odd about the case.Â
The photographs look very similar to a previous one in which a man was sentenced to life for murdering a woman. And as a shocking coincidence, the accused in the last case had pleaded innocence. But, Mickey had asked him to plead guilty as charges were strongly against him. This could avoid a death sentence, Mickey had told the accused in the previous case. Haller had divorced his wife Maggie McPherson, played by Marisa Tomei.Â
Maggie is a prosecution lawyer who hated Mickey for defending the guilty. Haller feels like he should do justice to his previous client, Martinez. Martinez is furious as he sees Roulet’s photograph. Haller is very sure that Roulet is the killer. But bound by the ethics of the profession, he is tongue-tied and is unable to reveal the truth to Martinez. Roulet admits to what he did and starts threatening Haller.Â
As the case progresses, he loses his friend Frank Levin as he is found shot dead. Earlier, Levin had left a message to Roulet. Police are unable to prove charges against Roulet, but he is arrested for murder in the previous case dealt by Haller.Â
There is a twist in the climax, wherein the Playboy Roulet’s mother points the gun at Haller admitting to murdering Levin for holding evidence against her son.Â
Haller is shot, and he shoots back in defense and slays her. After recovery from the gunshot wound comes to know of a development, which is left for the audiences to watch.
