CAST & CREW
The movie Joneses is an American flick that hit the screens in 2009. The movie’s director is Derrick Borte. The main roles in the movie are done by David Duchovny and Demi Moore. The movie was screened at the Film Festival in Toronto, Canada. The movie was released in select theaters.
Plot: David Duchovny does the role Steve in the movie. Demi Moore does the role Kate Jones in the movie. Steve and Kate is an ‘ideal’ couple. Jenn and Mick are their ‘kids’, and they lead deceptive lives and are in an undercover business. When they move into a wealthy circle, they motivate the neighbors to spend exorbitant amounts on products. Larry and Summer are the neighbors with whom Steve’s family has formed a close bond. Now, everything seems good as the family fits into the community well. But, as good as it appears, there is danger lingering around the corner. A sudden disaster strikes and the family is taken aback. They are compelled to come to terms with their real identity in the community.
Such families as the Joneses family are common faces. They are involved in a shady business, and the affluent neighborhood keeps spending on the products sold by the couple. The movie has an intelligent plot in it. Although the couple is doing tricky business, there is a wider appeal to the concept. As a twist in the movie, Steve realizes that his life with Kate is just a fake one. He has done the business to make the ends meet. Jenn and Mick are their so-called children with shortcomings hindering their progress in life. The movie relates how they handle their lives after the disaster. But, it seems that the debutante director wanted to play it safe. The movie unfolds with tremendous pace, and then slowly loses its quality.
Verdict: Whether or not Steve and Jane have struck the deal, the movie is not that good a deal.
