Plot
Due to his excessive drinking habit, Stuart was fired from his job. This leads to depression in him. Seeing his miserable condition, his friend tells him to come with his family for a Paris trip. He agrees to it. On this trip, he falls in love with Rosalind. Rosalind was in her 2s while Stuart was in his 50s. Stuart confessed his feelings and asked her for marriage. She is shocked by his actions and declines him firmly. For her, he is like a friend, nothing more. This makes him more depressed and miserable. He was embarrassed by it and decided to go to his home. In the airport, he meets Liam. They conversed with each, and Stuart told him how miserable his condition was. Liam tells him to be with him on his trip to France. Stuart decided to do as he said. What will happen to Stuart? Will his new journey bring a significant changes in his life? The rest of the story deals with it.
Star Performance
Matt Wash, as Stuart, did an acceptable performance in the film. His portrayed as a depressed and miserable man in his 50s. His character wants to enjoy life but has a terrible fate. Everything he tries fails miserably. His love life is awful. Reid Scott, as Liam, did a satisfactory performance in the movie. He portrayed as a handsome man who wants to explore the world. He is showing off, and his combination with Matt makes them a great combo. Judith Godrèche, as Louise, was fine in the movie. She portrayed well as a French winemaker. The romance between Judith and Matt was good in the film. Michaela Watkins, as Till, and David Win, as Frank, did a satisfactory performance in the movie. All the other actors were as good as the main lead actors.
Analysis
The storyline of the film was average and enjoyable. The film focus on the lifestyle of a man in his 50s. The film showcases the hardships of finding a romantic relationship in the 50s. Life seems miserable in the 50s if you haven’t planned ahead, but there will be moments where you feel happiness. This is what is seen in the film. It showcases the mid-life crisis of a man who got fired. The cinematography in the movie was excellent. It gives a beautiful trip to Paris and France. The comedy in the movie was good, but the romance was not that good. The dramatic elements were fine. There was a freshness in the storyline, but not well executed. The background music and songs play a significant role in the movie. The dialogues were good.
