The movie The Hundred-Foot Journey is about how an Indian family thrives in the hotel business in the foreign land. Plot:
An Indian family is hard-hit by the riots in France and is forced to relocate to France. There is a tinge of melodrama as the father of the children in the movie has lost his wife in the Indian riots. The family moves on to a French village where they decide to open a restaurant in a piece of land which has a concrete structure reduced to shambles. As a twist in the story, the family encounters a challenge with a female hotel owner. The French woman’s restaurant is just hundred feet away from the Indian family’s restaurant. The Indian patriarch’s son has a nose for preparing good food. Eventually, the gap is bridged, and the French restaurant owner helps the boy come up with beautiful delicacies. Also, there is love intertwined in the story with the Indian guy romancing a French Girl.

Analysis:
One may think that the movie with cultural discrimination as its concept would be like the same grind of the mill. But, it is not so. The camera eyes sweep across the greeneries of France, and prove to be a credential to the movie. The plot meanders through racial discrimination and finally brings tears as compassion and humane outlook wipe out the discriminative approach.
