Plot
Golda shows us the plight of the Israeli Government before the commencement of the Yom Kippur War in 1973. The movie tries to capture the journey of the Israeli Prime Minister at that time, Golda Meir. The audience is taken back to October 1973, when Mossad, the intelligence agency of Israel, receives information about external threats from Syria and Egypt. This information is prompted to Golda Meir, but she doesn’t take any concrete measures due to the absence of their defense minister.
On 6 October, which is observed as a holy Jewish day of Yom Kippur, Golda’s worst fears come to life. She is told that the Egyptian army has gathered on Israeli borders and will start shooting by sundown. The movie follows her struggles as she tries to defend Israel against its Arab neighbors. The war lasts for twenty long days and we are shown the insights of each political discussion in order. It doesn’t even help that people doubt Golda’s ability to protect her country and also her inner circle loses faith in her.
Will Golda be able to protect her dear Israel?
Watch this thriller to find out.

Helen’s portrayal of Golda showed sheer determination and tremendous effort on her part.
Analysis
Golda is a biographical account that attempts to cherish the legacy of Golda Meir, the Israeli Prime Minister during the Yom Kippur War in 1973. It is no short of a masterpiece but with some minute flaws. Golda is a perfect example of a well-structured screenplay and articulate execution of the plot. Every dot connects as the film progresses gradually. Also, the casting choice couldn’t have been better. Helen Mirren as Golda aces her role and adds to the glory of this movie.
The film could have been better when it comes to the climax scene. It doesn’t leave the audience on the edge of their seats and no definite conclusion is seen. Also, the film has many historical references that are hard to adapt for an average viewer. A little more thought was required to simplify that information for the audience.Â
