Based on the Gordon Williams novel The Siege of Trencher's Farm, Straw Dogs Click to look into! >> Read More... is a thriller directed, produced, and written by Rod Lurie, remake of Sam Peckinpah's 1971 film Straw Dogs. There are people who can pull off the remake of the classic Straw Dogs, but Rod Lurie isn't among them.
Plot:  The script is a classic one that is filled with violence, a classic home invasion thriller with of course a defensive husband who is playing the cliché script writer in a countryside farm. His wife is seen teasing his ex-boyfriend with a changing clothes scene that may attract a certain genre of people who will enjoy the disturbing scenes of rape, violence and, of course, the revenge and defense of his boundary that would show us the transformation of a humble writer into a violent macho man.
But the narration and acting lacks the soul which will take us back.Certain scenes might be disturbing or for some quite moving but the technique and methodology lacks the soul of the classic. So we may have the mathematician turned into scriptwriter, a beautiful wife, a crude ex-boyfriend with his mates, who harass and rape the wife. The movie fails miserably because of poor narration, lack of quality acting, and screenplay.
Verdict: This is for those who like violence in any form, and who haven’t seen the classic itself.
