Plot: Margeret Daisy Suckley( Laura Linney Laura Linney is an American actress born and broug >> Read More... ) is asked of companionship for the then President Franklin Roosevelt who is currently ill with his mother. Daisy agrees to it and arrives at the Hyde Park, Roosevelt’s residence. The President draws close to her as she to reciprocates the feelings that the president had started to feel lately. Time passes by, and Daisy becomes the closest person with whom the President shares his feelings to.

Apart from the relationship that has now started between the two, the President also ventures into other affairs such as meeting with the King and Queen of England, Daisy already has grown feelings for the President in her heart but is informed that she is one of the many ladies with whom the President spends his quality “me” time. She is shocked and hurt after knowing this and decides that President cannot have her that way. She decides to leave the President but is interrupted by the President and his pleadings to stay with him. She eventually gives in to his requests and becomes one of his mistresses.

Later as the years pass by quick and the President takes on the position of different roles but deteriorates himself in doing so. As he lay in his bed weak and fragile, he looks up to Daisy and the latter back to him thinking if they can pull it off once more.

Analysis: This movie is a true account of President’s cousin and yes it indeed is impressive, the chemistry between the president and his cousin has been portrayed to some extent by the respective actors. Cinematography looks royal with screenplay adding extra shine to it. The movie trades well in terms of acting, the incidents that happened during the pre-war conditions against Germany but still it leaves the romance between the lead pair unaffected.

Star Performances: Bill Murray does his best, and that is acting, acting as one of the most important presidents in American history is not a joke and he does it effortlessly. Laura Linney, on the other hand, goes hand in hand with Bill playing one of his mistresses who gets romantically involved with the President and stays with him till the end and she is too good to be ignored.

What's There?

• Brilliant performances by Laura Linney and Bill Murray in their respective roles.

• Fine cinematography and topped with the appreciable screenplay.

• A true incident which is presented as it is with little to no changes.

What's Not There? 

• Too much grandeur takes the stage sometimes and throws the story off of it.

Verdict: Hyde Park to Hudson is watchable and to be honest, more than just watchable. The personal accounts of the woman who was closest to the President, you might not want to miss this one.
