Laura Linney is an American actress born and brought up in Manhattan. Her mother was a nurse, and father Romulus Zachariah Linney IV is known to be an acclaimed playwright and professor. She even has nexus with Romulus Zachariah Linney; he is her great-great-grandfather. She did not spend her life lavishly. Instead, she lived with her mother and her half-sister named Susan, from her father, in a one bedroom apartment. She is an alumnus of Northfield Mount Hermon School of 1982 and reportedly is the chairperson of Arts Advisory Council in the same institution. She later attended Northwestern University and Brown University. She pursued acting at Brown University with popular names such as John Emigh. She managed a production workshop associated with the university theater group. In the senior year, Linney chose to play a role written by his father. After this, she made her way to Juilliard School to learn to act and was adorned with a doctorate in fine arts from the College.

The actress got married to David Adkins in 1995, but unfortunately, they got divorced in 2000. In 2007, the actress found her match and got engaged with Marc Schauer, a real estate agent. They eventually got married in the year 2009. She gave birth to a boy named Bennett in the year 2014. The actress got nominated for the Academy Awards and Tony Awards thrice. She managed to receive her first ever Emmy Award for the movie Wild Iris (2001) in the year 2002. And later, for two subsequent years, she bagged awards for Frasier and John Adams. She then made it to star in the popular Showtime television series called Big C which bagged her next award. Her career profile stands out with winning two Golden Globe awards.

Audiences gave overwhelming response for her debut on the television screen. We saw her depicting a struggle to become something in the series General Hospital, a venture of ABC. She portrayed the character of Mary Ann Singleton in the series inspired from Tales of the City books by Armistead Maupin. Later in 1994, she was seen in one of the episode of Law and Order as Martha Bowen. She also managed the job of producer for the popular series Big C. She even acted in the series. She was even seen hosting the television Masterpiece Classic in the year 2009. Her movies include Primal Fear, The Truman Show, Mystic River, Love Actually, The Squid and the Whale. She got nominations for the popular movies such as You Cannot Count on Me, Kinsey and The Savages.
