Over 25 monsters are beautifully brought to life on screen through their commendable efforts. And well, the team had indeed done a balancing work.

and his mother Amy Ryan want to start a fresh lease of life (after Dylan’s father passes away), and hence they shift to Madison, Delaware. Gradually, they realize that their neighbor is none other than the famous unsociable writer R.L. Stine. Stine is staying with his daughter Odeya Rush who is being tutored at home. And our strict father of Odeya makes no stone unturned in setting rules to Dylan that the latter should not be friends with Odeya. But our dear Dylan is indeed charmed by Odeya’s beauty.
And then the characters of Stine are being “released” by Dylan due to some turn of circumstances. And now it's the turn of Dylan, Odeya and Ryan Lee (Dylan’s pal) to bring back the monsters to book since they seem to be on a mission to devastate the town.

plays the role of Stine and he fits the role to the T. He has played the role of a distant, irate author to perfection. Kudos Black! Dylan Minnette, Ryan Lee and Odeya Rush have done their jobs neatly. Amy Ryan is just good in whatever role she does and in this film she has as usual done her best.
Stines has always managed to give the right tinge of a scare in the reader and this film too does the same.
This film is somewhat a comedy movie rather than being a horror film. There is also a charming romantic track added to the movie.
Verdict: The youngsters will surely relish the film.
