Plot
In the film House with a Clock In Its walls, ten-year-old Lewis Barnavelt goes to his uncle Jonathan's house. His parents are not anymore, so his uncle is his guardian. He keeps Magic 8-Ball given by his parents. In a new house, he meets Florence Zimmerman. She is Jonathan’s neighbor and best friend. At night, he experiences a ticking sound in the walls. He tries to find the reason. He learned that his uncle was smashing a wall with an axe. He was afraid after seeing the strange behavior of his uncle. Later, his uncle tells him he is a warlock, and Florence is a witch. The house they are staying in belongs to a sinister warlock called Isaac Izard. They are trying to find a hidden clock within the walls of the house and its significance. Lewis tells them that he will help them. They accepted his help. What will happen to Lewis? Are they able to find the clock? What secret clock is hiding? The rest of the story deals with it.
Star Performance
Jack Black, as Jonathan Barnavelt, did an incredible performance in the film. He was a caring uncle and a good warlock. He is trying his best to save his friend. Owen Vaccaro, as Lewis Barnavelt, did a fantastic performance in the movie. He shows the nature of a young and innocent child who tries to help his uncle to find a clock. In this journey, he understands the importance of righteousness and wins the audience's hearts. His innocence was factual and natural. One would hate Kyle MacLachlan after watching this movie. That much impact he made in the whole film. His evil intention and combination with Renée Elise Goldsberry, as Selena Izard, was terrifying. Cate Blanchett, as Florence Zimmerman, did a remarkable performance in the movie. Her support for Jonathan and Lewis was admirable. Her role has its significance. All the other actors were as good as the main lead actors.
Analysis
The storyline of the film was great, fun, and enjoyable –the film focus on the central theme of making the right choices. The film is a fantastic comedy film. The audience will love the movie from the start till the end. Supernatural elements like magic, warlock, and witch are shown in the movie. The film is based on the book of the same name. The fans of the book can enjoy this film. The adventurous journey of Jonathan and Lewis is demonstrated in the film. The background music and songs play a significant role in the movie. The dialogues were excellent. The cinematography is well structured and framed in the movie.
