Plot: The movie is about Ren MacCormack, who is transferred to a southern town of Bomont from Boston. In Bomont, he undergoes a cultural change that comes to him as a shock. In the town, dancing and music is prohibited because of a tragic incident five years prior. Now Ren challenges this prohibition being the one who does not follow rules. He also develops an affair with minister’s daughter, Ariel. He is shown as rebellious characters that do not bow in front of the statuesque. It is a good remake; the script has been well adapted. All actors did well; Kenny did great work, only Julianne had a median performance.
It is very much similar to the original movie; sometimes the songs and the dialogues are exactly same. The legendary character one played by

has been kept intact, Kenny does an amazing job. Casting these two professional dancers turned out to be a good decision for the director.
The plot of the movie is laughable, cheesy. Surprisingly Brewer manages to make it look more dramatic. The music is blending of old and new, very much grooving. The dance choreography is just splendid. But in few scenes, the movie appears lifeless and dull. What’s disappointing about the movie is that it does not look like a remake; it is just a mere copy of the original. Bit as an audience, we expect some changes in the plot and something new and exciting which is missing in this movie.
Verdict: Overall, it is a fun one-time watch movie.
