Plot
William Shakespeare decided to retire at the age of 49 due to the burning of the Globe Theatre while his play Henry VIII. He went to his home and spent time with his family. He spent most of his time writing rather than taking care of his family. Even when his son died due to plaque, he could not come. His son named, Hamnet was his favorite due to poems written by Hamnet. His daughters Susanna and Judith have a complicated relationship with their father. His family considered him as a guest, not as a member of the family. Will the great playwright be able to regain his family? Will Anne accepts his husband? The rest of the story deals with it.
Star Performance
Kenneth Branagh, as William Shakespeare, did an incredible performance in the film. It is hard to portray a character whose personal life is a mystery, still, Kenneth did a great job. He has shown the audience how this great playwright would have acted. He demonstrates what the audience can represent for William Shakespeare. Judi Drench, as Anne Hathaway, did a fantastic performance in the movie. Her detailing for the character is impressive. She did a great job in representing how an uneducated wife of a great writer will be. She has shown us the struggle that she had to face in his absence. Ian McKellen, as The Earl of Southampton, was impressive. He represents well what most people can consider as William Shakespeare’s love interest. Lydia Wilson, as Susanna Shakespeare, and Kathryn Wilder, as Judith Shakespeare are perfect in their roles as daughters. Both of them played a significant role in the film. All the other actors were as good as the main lead actors.
Analysis
The storyline of the film was great, entertaining, and enjoyable. The film focus on the Central theme of William Shakespeare's life. The film is shown the role of William Shakespeare in his position. William Shakespeare’s life has always been a mystery to the people, and this film tries its best to portray his film. The cinematography was excellent, as it well depicts the 16’s. The storyline was engaging. It is well framed William Shakespeare’s last moments before leaving the earth. The costume design was fantastic. The detailing given to the storyline was impressive from the start till the end. The background music and songs play a significant role in the movie. The music composition was perfect for the scenes. The dialogues were excellently framed.
