Analysis
They say, ‘Do not judge a Book by its cover.’ The same applies to the movie ‘3,2,1… Frankie Go Boom! The movie looks like another run-of-the-mill nonsense masquerading as an exquisite masterpiece.
However, as the movie turns out, it is more of a confused, yet entertaining product, rather than a disappointment. Sometimes, the humor is natural, and so much so that the viewers will roll on the floor laughing.
As the exploitative and bickering brothers, Chris O Dowd and Charlie Hunnam have done a great job. The way the two fight with each other will remind many of the never-ending, borderline ludicrous sibling rivalries. If only Charlie’s character had a better screentime
The supporting cast has been equally impressive, with Nora Dunn and Ron Perlman being the standout performers. Sadly, their efforts have been somewhat diminished by the lopsided script of this movie.
Sometimes, the humor in some sequences is so awkward that one wonders if they had to laugh at it. Jordan Roberts has not done anything bad, but his execution in some instances is rather far from impressive. Even the technical work in some is not up to the mark, though it is still convincing enough for the viewers to be engaged. Some sequences make the finished product look like it was edited rather haphazardly.

Verdict
‘3, 2,1…… Frankie Go Boom is a great movie but in parts. The film had an interesting concept, but the acting performances could not make up for the glitches in editing and direction. You can watch it if you have a knack for something new.
