Not many know that ‘Thandel’ is based on an actual event that happened with some Indian fishermen in 2018. 18 Indian fishermen were held captive by Pakistani authorities in Karachi. If not for the efforts of Sushma Swaraj, they would have been languishing behind bars. Sadly, Sushma Swaraj didn’t live much longer, and passed away in August 2019, only a day after the Article 370 was abrogated from the state of Jammu & Kashmir.
