Chiranjeevi is once again in the news, but for a different reason.
Chiranjeevi has placed a unique request: Bharat Ratna should be bestowed on NT Rama Rao! According to his latest tweet on the occasion of NTR’s 101st birth anniversary, NT Rama Rao has done a lot for the people of this country, and Bharat Ratna would be a fitting tribute to his services.
In case you are unaware, Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao is one of the greatest icons of regional cinema in India, especially Telugu cinema. NTR is well known for his mass connect, which could give competition to even the likes of MG Ramachandran or Rajesh Khanna! He acted in over 300 films, and was extremely popular for his portrayals of Hindu deities like Krishna, Rama, Shiva etc.
However, NT Rama Rao didn’t make a name for himself only in cinema. Having always wanted to serve the masses, NTR joined politics. He not only surprised many by winning the 1983 elections for Andhra Pradesh, but also won a whopping 30 seats in the 1984 parliamentary elections, despite the huge wave that was mostly in favor of the Rajiv Gandhi led Congress party. He founded the Telugu Desam Party, which is currently being led by his former aide, Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
