Kavin’s family had been running a Chit Fund Company from 1998 to 2006. 34 people had deposited money in the chit fund, but Kavin’s family didn’t return any money to those people. So, they filed a case in 2007 and the case had been going on for the past 12 years. In the judgment, the judge stated that as per the evidence and the witness, the offense is proved. So they have to repay the investors the right amount with interest. The court also stated that as the crime is proved, the people involved in the chit fund business are sentenced to a jail term for five years with thousand rupee fine and also they have to repay Rs 1 lakh to each of the investors with an interest of 5%. If they fail to pay the amount, their property will be seized, stated the judge.
