P Chidambaram, the former Finance Minister of India, condemns the new rule by the banks that charge Rs. 150/ transaction after the limited transaction of 4 deposits and 4 withdrawals per month. Last week, HDFC, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank announced that after four cash transactions, the customers would be fined with Rs. 150 / transaction. P Chidambaram asks that if the customers withdraw their money in a single transaction, will the banks, be happy. Already the country is in an economic crisis. If the banks allow such schemes, many people fear to deposit and withdraw the amount. It will be a great loss to those private banks if the customers stop accumulating and move to the banks that suit their needs.
